The Cuyahoga County Archives was established in 1975 and serves as a repository for the historical records of Cuyahoga County and records requiring temporary maintenance. The County archives provides three basic services:

  • Preserves inactive County records kept on a continuing basis
  • Assists in preparation of retention schedules and coordinates records management activities for the County
  • Makes records accessible to the public

What can I find there?

  • Birth records
  • Marriage records
  • Death records
  • Historical property For Example: Civil War Bounty Record 1861, Cuyahoga County Atlases 1800’s.


The new County Archives building space includes areas for research (WIFI available) where printers, scanners, and computers for public use are available.
