Stokes to Swear In FitzGerald as First Cuyahoga County Executive

Inauguration Ceremony for Cuyahoga County Executive Set for Sunday, Jan. 9

CLEVELAND – Former U.S. Congressman Louis Stokes will swear in Ed FitzGerald as Cuyahoga’s first county executive at a formal inauguration ceremony set for Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011.  Honorary Co-Chairs include Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson, Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge and Congressman Dennis Kucinich. The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. at the Old Courthouse, 1 W. Lakeside Avenue, Cleveland. 

“We are honored to have former Congressman Lou Stokes play such an important role in the inaugural swearing in of Cuyahoga County Executive-Elect, Ed FitzGerald,” said Inauguration Planning Director Sharon Cole.  “As we begin this new form of improved county governance, it is important to remember the past contributions of great leaders like Congressman Stokes.” 

The ceremony will include musical performances by Cleveland Heights A Capella Choir and William Clarence Marshall, Bass. The event is open to the public, but registration is required due to limited spacing. For registration information and additional details, please visit www.ONECUYAHOGA.com.
